Community Support

Boulia Shire Council values the health and wellbeing of all individuals and endeavours to provide the community with sources of information that may be of assistance.

Boulia Community Support Services

The Boulia Community Support Service is a program of the North West Queensland Indigenous Catholic Social Services (NWQICSS) Mount Isa. They provide a range of support services to the community including:

  • Assistance with child safety matters, domestic violence and housing problems
  • Assistance with ID requirements, Medicare Cards, Birth Certificates, schooling forms, support letters etc
  • Food parcels and second hand clothing
  • Referrals to various agencies such as North & West Remote Health (NWRH), Department of Housing, RFDS Mental Health Team, ATODS and Lives Lived Well

as well as coordinating a variety of recreational activities such as arts and crafts, bingo, cooking, computer classes, Women’s Group, 'Tuesday in the Shed' for primary school students and Thursday afternoon sports sessions at the Sports Centre.

Queensland Country Women's Association

The Queensland Country Women's Assocation (QCWA) is a great avenue not only to make friends and establish social connections, but to take part in giving back to the community. The QCWA Boulia Branch is very active in hosting activities that support the local community and raise funds for important causes. The QCWA also make available Student Bursaries and have funding support available through the Public Rural Crisis Fund.
